About the show Oprah did last week with the woman who 2 months after
her marraige got amnesia from a car accident, then spent 4 months in
rehabilitaion. I was hoping Oprah would stop the conversation and say
to that husband, "It was you! It was you who changed her personality!"

Remember: She said her personality changed about 30-40% from what it
used to be. She used to be PATIENT and now she's very impatient and she
used to be ENERGETIC, DETERMINED TO SUCCEED (she was an athlete) and now
she has none of that drive.
Then her husband very proudly tells how he was an important part of
her rehabilitation, how he pushed her so hard. If she took 2 steps he
made her take 4 etc. She would complain he said, saying, "You're not
fair, you don't know what it's like...", But he said he had to put the
husband in him aside and be hard like a coach.

I believe he reraised his wife to be impatient and low energy. During
her rehab. she was just like a baby not only in that she didn't know
anything and had to be completely retrained but also in that she forgot
the training period.
In essence he raised her with the influence of a father over a growing
child. SHE BECAME WHAT HE MODELED TO HER. When he should have been
patient and encouraging during her rehab. he was just the opposite. He
didn't listen to her needs or her feelings, nothing she did was good
enough.

I would love to see Oprah do a show with that horse trainer, Monty
Roberts I believe, in California who listens and communicates with
horses to accept a rider instead of breaking them to accept a rider. He
says that no one deserves to be forced to do what another person wants,
and that that is the message in his work. La Leche League (right there
in Chicago) believes the same goes for babies.
