We are fortunate in our area to have two hospitals who have informed and up-
to-date LCs, upon whom I call probably more than I should. However, the other
four hospitals in our area have LC's who give such poor advice I can only
guess that they 1) have no children or 2) never BF the children they have or
3) were trained in BF techniques by R*** or M***! We all continue to
persevere in keeping communication lines open, and invite them to all Health
Professional Seminars and Continuing Education events available in our area,
to no avail. Sorry if we begin to refer to them as "Hospital L.c.'s," but they
would not be able to get away with calling themselves L.c.'s if they were not
in the hospital setting. I only wish some of these "One call that's all" type
attorneys would take up the cause of denied BF experience, then maybe we would
stop seeing non-IBCLC people referred to as LC's . Isn't this lack of truth
in advertisement or something? I am not IBCLC, and people still call me for
help even though I don't use LC after my name. The difference is the people
who call me KNOW they are getting a "layperson".
