Others of you may also have been listening to the radio (I am an NPR
junkie) Saturday afternoon when early word came in of Prime Minister of
Israel being shot. Later it was confirmed that he had been killed.

How very sad is this news. My prayers and thoughts go out to all of our
Israeli friends and all others who fear this might set back Middle East
peace efforts.
To all of you directly affected by this news, please know that many others
of us are thinking of you.

I thought President Clinton's words were on the mark, "Goodbye, friend."
What Prime Minister Rabin has done in the past few years to further the
cause of peace will never be forgotten.

Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
