Hi all:
I have permission to post, and I hope it is not a dumb question.
I am working with a mom and baby who are battling persistent yeast.
Mom has done two courses of GV, with success, and is using acidophilus
and APNO as well.
Presented today with red, inflamed and painful nipples and babe has
thrush visible again on her inner cheeks. Neither mom nor babe has ever
had abx. Explored other possible sources of yeast contamination in the
home, no older child, dad has no fungal infections, and there is no
dog(ears)
However, mom states that dad's hobby is brewing his own beer, and he
just made another batch, which involved yeast being kept in the fridge,
and possibly getting on the counter when transferring containers.
Wondered if this could be the source. I said I didn't know, but that I
would ask the experts.
I understand that Brewer's yeast is different from candida albicans, but
could exposure to Brewer's yeast cause a yeast infection?
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Doreen Vanderstoep, RN, IBCLC
