Arly,
We have found one of the best teaching tools we can give new mothers is the Diaper Diary, created by Barbara Wilson-Clay and Kay Hoover. Comes in English and Spanish. I know they are not free but we baught enough for 1 year and only give it out to new mothers (first time) or situations where you thought one was indicated. We use a less colorful, log with all of the important information on it about pees and poops for everyone else. First time mothers have no frame of reference for poop color changes, amounts, urine and how to guage quantity. I was reaffirmed in the tear offs being worth their weight when we had a baby readmitted who was born in another hospital. The mother looked at the diaper diary and said, "Oh my God, now it makes sense" If I had this to refer to I think it we may not have been in this predicament"

I have no financial interest in the Diaper Diary. They can be purchased on Lactnews.com
