My little buddy, Josh, turned 2 last May. His mommy was sure
breastfeeding would "never work out" and she "hoped I wouldn't be mad
at her if she quit" I asked, "Can I come over NOW?" Josh was one week
old. I went to her house daily for a couple of weeks. She is a
friend, she lives close by and she had 2 unsuccessful attempts at
breastfeeding 11 and 13 years before. Now, everyday, when Josh's mom
gets home from teaching 4th grade, he greets her with a kiss and
says, "OK mommy, MIK break now, on couch." She happily obliges him
and loves the relationship they have. He nurses off and on thru the
night and in the morning before she goes to work. She pumped for the
first 2 years but after a while, he refused MIK from anywhere but
mommy! He calls her bra a 'can opener' and asks her to "move her can
opener" so he can have his MIK break!! It is one of my favorite
stories, he is such a cutie and his mommy is incredibly proud. (We
think he calls it that because they have lots of animals and she uses
a can-opener to get to food for them).
Thought everybody could use an happy story in the midst of all this
UNICEF debacle and all the other depressing stuff going on. We do
make such a difference in so many lives. We all deserve a big pat on
the back occasionally! I am incredibly honored to be a part of this
group.

PS. My solution to the pump dilemma? I sell them at MY cost. I do not
make ONE penny on them. I have no desire to make money on pumps. Wish
I could give them away to those in need...
