sounds sooo good  as a hypothesis Jan  :), but isn't consistent with my own,
albeit anecdotal, one person only experience; delivered my first 2 children
at 41.5 wks, SVD at a free standing birth center, the third, ten years after
the first in the hospital after induction at 38 wks. All without
pharmacologic pain relief, felt the contractions were much more UNmanageable
with the 2nd (bw 9-13) overall and the most manageable with the 3rd (bw 7-2)
since the pitocin could be "turned down". I had no edema with any of them and
"too much " milk at around the same time with each!
