Dear Elisabeth,

Two weeks ago a mother was admitted onto the antepartal unit with this same
diagnosis. She is in incredible pain. Dr How is her perinatologist and she
plans on publishing this as a case study. I didn't follow her so I really
don't know the outcome. She was about 23 weeks gestation. While I don't
have her pager number here at home, Dr. How could be reached by calling the
University of Cincinnati Medical Center, perinatal center at: 513-558-4800.
If she were not in at that time you could leave an email address and message
or speak to her nurse. Unfortunately I deleted your message before I took off
your own email address. If you want to email me directly with your collegues
email or phone number, I'd be happy to pass it on to Dr. How. I also know
they were consulting with a specialist at the breast center as well.

RE the sids risk and babies getting to warm between parents...
I thought I recalled Jane Ledington or James McKenna saying that when premies
were held skin to skin with moms, they thermo-regulated, thus cooling down if
there temps were too hi, however this did not happen with the dads. If the
babies overheated on dad's chest, they didnot down regulate. I'd be
interested to hear McKenna's comments. The tapes he showed at ILCA a few
years back had only moms and babes at his sleep center. I presume that the
cosleeping that has happened for years around the world have included both
parents.
