I would like to hear more about this also. I would also like it to be made clear if we
are talking about storing fresh breast milk or freezing it.

I have read in The Breastfeeding Answer Book by LLLI that for the baby who receives most
of his nourishment from fresh, expressed human milk that plastic containers are best. It
mentions that leukocytes adhere to glass and these leukocytes would be especially
important to a premature or sick baby.

It goes on to say that if the milk is frozen, either glass or hard plastic storage
containers are equally good since leukocytes are destroyed by freezing. Plastic storage
bags are mentioned as an option (both the ones specially designed for human milk and the
nurser-type ones).

Further information would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Kim
