Also wanted to share with you Breastfeeding Support Consultants Lactation
Consultant Correspondence Course training program for LC's.  I believe you
have two options now in regards to taking the course, one is 6 months home
study followed by a week long intensive seminar (conference), the other way
is to do the whole training course at home (usually takes about 18 months to
complete, that's the route I took).  I believe their fee is $1200.00, but I'm
not sure.  I recently completed the course and found it to be excellent.
 Many varied activities, including a clinical LC Practicum to be completed in
your area, critique of professional research/literature, end of chapter study
guides, etc.  You can write or call them for all the details.

I know the course was just recently completely revised and updated.  This
might be an option for you being that you wished to (like me) do  your
studying from home.  It is on the expensive side, but I think would end up
much cheaper than taking courses/conferences in distant cities.  The other
excellent option is to consider the group study option, "do it yourselfer" as
