Facetious subject line - but we want to remind you that the new spam filter at the listserv requires the listmothers to approve any post which contains the phrase 'Dear friends'. Apparently it is a much-used salutation among spammers, unfortunately. What it means for subscribers is that their post may be delayed in reaching us, or in the worst case, if none of the listmothers are near computers for many hours simultaneously, which is always a (remote) possibility, the post may simply expire on its own before we get around to approving it, which we can't do before we have opened the post and read it ourselves.

Nikki Lee informed us that by changing her greeting to 'Dear Lactnet friends' she was once again able to post directly to the list. This is a fine way to circumvent the spam filter, in my very humble opinion.

I mention it now because after Nan's post yesterday, a post in response to it was also held for listmother approval because Nan's post was included in the response with the phrase 'Dear friends' intact. Our listserv is of course top-flight but it is not so brilliant as to recognize messages it has approved previously.

Sorry to have to ask people to be less friendly, it goes against my grain something awful. But it's easily dealt with, luckily.
cheers

writing from Oslo this time, on a bright sunny day with new snow on the ground and a morning radio broadcast featuring way too much air time about the wretched BMJ commentary article about introducing solids at 4 mos - but in which Anne Bærug, head of the Nat'l BF Center also participated and left the others in the dust, woo-hoo!
