laurie - one time the subject of "what do you carry around with you" came up
and people were rather astounded at the amount of things i have in my bag.
weighs a ton. i use all kinds of things. to answer your specific questions,
yes, you need a scale. i bought one for an extremely reasonable price (email
me) and refer everyone to this company. its the same scale as the "major
famous name" scale, that is, it is really made by the same company. has a
different "after market" name on it, and is easier to use. that is, you can
change from grams to lbs. on the front and not the side.

i'm NOT a scale person, but i use it when needed, and moms really love to
weigh their babies when they come over for something else. i offer "free
weight checks" which is just a way for moms to come by for free if they need
something. support, to show off (i love that part), etc. i also weigh mail on
it. the post office, their scales are off, though, sometimes.

i always have nipple shields, etc., with me, because the chance of someone
actually making ANOTHER appointment for something like that are slim to none.
i feel like you have to be able to fix everything possible at that first
visit. chances of success are much improved that way.

so that explains the GV, the syringes, the lanolin, the fake APNO
ingredients, the glucose (unfortunately i have needed it on an emergency
basis TWICE already), the 5fr tubes, the everything. plus a car full of stuff
like slings, pumps etc.

carol brussel IBCLC, too poor from buying stuff to go to ILCA
