Jeanne,
That is such a disappointment! I am fearful of this in New Orleans as more
and more non-profit community hospitals are being bought by corporations.
This happened recently where I work and last week the administrators came
looking at my office to use it for a new infertility practice.
If any of the laid-off LCs have experience w/ grant writing (for the record,
I don't), perhaps they could get together and develop some sort of lactation
clinic. Salaries would be part of the budget, of course. Obviously, there is
a real need for the services. Moms will have great difficulty accessing
skilled help.
