I appeal to all those out there that have or are on the Journey to Baby
Friendly Designation.
At my hospital we are waiting for word from Baby Friendly USA after
submitting for the certificate of intent, but my questions is to
those who have helped their facility go Baby Friendly or to those who work
in a facility that is Baby Friendly the 4D pathway.
I have read and read and read on the Baby Friendly site, well under *D2
DEVELOPMENT -DEVELOP PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM TEACHING PLANS*
It states : *This step requires that your facility develop teaching plans
for use with prenatal and postpartum women at your hospital or birthing
center. As detailed in the Development Phase tool kit, these teaching plans
should support and enhance your facility's breastfeeding policy. *We do
have a prenatal clinic associated with our hospital. We are waiting for the
tool kit. But my director is interpreting this to say that we need to have
a breastfeeding class in the hospital. But I think this means we need to
submit in a teaching plan what is taught to the women in the prenatal
clinic. I think this is Step 3?
If any one can contact me privately that would be great, I know I need to
wait for the tool kit, but can any one give me some guidance while we wait?
