There are a few exotic types of mastitis that don't really seem to be 
caused by germs and are very difficult to treat, and there are exotic 
germs that can cause mastitis that are insensitive to common 
antibiotics. This mom's experience is very suspicious. Do you have a 
curious young physician around who might be willing to do some cultures 
and some digging around in the literature?
