Kathy,
  As I recall, this issue was just addressed recently on
lactnet, so you may want to check the archives over the
last couple of months.
I think the conclusion was that the amount of lead
in bullets and guns and the way users are exposed to it
was not a problem, but I don't remember if there were
any references to go with that.
