Dear Gonneke,
I work in a hospital setting and we use side-feeding with all the sick and premature children and the children with feeding difficulties. (for excample laryngomalacia) A few nurses/physio therapist/ speech therapist have gone to Susanne Thoyre who educates about the early feeding skills for preterm infants.
These children; breastfed or aritifical fed get their bottles side lying.
This is more natural when you compare it with breastfeeding. Try drinking a bottle lying on your back or on your side. The last method is so much easier. We se that these children drink better/calmer/pacing is easier/ less gulping. They cann drink more and have less saturarion dips.

Since we feed baby's this way we see al lot of improvement and the nursing staff was excited!

In the link you can read more information about EFS.

Friendly greetings Annet Mulder
