Vaguely remember a recentish study showing that breastfeeding babies were
protected from withdrawal effects, since they were 'using' in utero, as has
been pointed out.  Don't remember if any health aspects were addressed,
though.

After reading the other posts on this topic, am I way off base here?  Has
something changed that I missed?  Is cocaine not as harmful to the baby as I
have learned?  This is not about judging the mother, this is about the
safety of the baby.  I agree that the ideal scenario is that mom stops using
and the baby goes on to exclusively breastfeed.  But that only happens in a
highly motivated mother who is routinely monitored.  Where I live it's very
difficult to get into a drug rehab program.  What is going on in other areas
of the country/world in these circumstances?  Please share.
