Giving cereal at six weeks is VERY old fashioned.  It will not assist
sleeping at night, it will probably decrease mom's milk supply, it can
contribute to allergies in the infant.  No food before 6 mo is very clearly
stated in the AAP statement on breastfeeding, which every pediatrician
should have tatooed on the palm of his hand so he will remember to glance at
it and then say the right things to mom :-)  Sincerely, Pat in SNJ -feeling
