Just lately the blood donation rules were changed to defer anyone who spent
more than 6 mo in UK from 19xx to 19xx (two dates I don't remember.)  I
believe this was to try and circumvent anyone who may be harboring CJD
acquired by ingestion of contaminated meat while staying in UK.  Was of
interest to me because my sil, a neuropathologist was there during the time
span.  The current problem came about because animal remains from affected
sheep (I think) were mixed into cattle feed.  So possibly there are two or
more routes to getting CJD.  Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
