Two questions.

I wonder if hypnosis has ever been studied as a way to increase milk production.  I once read an article about a man who induced lactation and then involution by hypnosis.  If it could work for a man, it might be of help to a post-partum woman.

This question was posed by a client.  She is aware that breastfeeding burns 500 calories a day (I'm not entirely convinced that moms need an extra 500 calories, though, but that's just me.), and she is currently producing about 1/2 of her baby's needs.  Would she then be burning 250 calories to produce this milk?  I wonder if it might be more because of the effort she is putting in to increase production and maintenance.

Thanks,
Julie Tardos
