Exactly.

Businesses are not IN business to do anything but make money.  Oh, there
may be businesses that are somewhat more ethical than others, but let's
accept the economic reality.  Businesses that don't have that as their
primary goal are called charities (who usually have it as their means to
achieve the primary).

Businesses who sell goods or services want to expand their market by
moving into a new niche, or creating a _perceived_ need.  That is what
pump companies, formula companies and just about any company does.  To
this end, their advertising   

It is important not assume some corporate morality where it may not
exist. The only morality is the bottom line, with some companies being
more careful about how they get there. I strongly doubt that anyone at
Medela thinks that their advertising is doing anything more that making
sure we know about their pumps and recommend them. 

Please note:  I'm not condoning this at all!  It's reminder that, where
any advertising is concerned, keep your cynicism high.  

Sigh.  I wish WE (the BF community) had the money for advertising like
corporations do.  Unfortunately when that kind of funding is available
it's government and then the advertising become a political football
instead of a means of "selling" what should never have had to be sold in
the first place.
