My name is Jennifer Coombs and I am a physician assistant in Family
Practice in Salt Lake City. My supervising physician (Jay Moreland, MD)
and myself are writing an article for the American Family Physician
journal about breastfeeding. I believe strongly that the recent support
from the American Academy of Pediatrics has been a factor in increasing
breastfeeding statistics. We are hoping to get the Family doctors to
get behind this issue as well. We are in the process of finding the most
recent breastfeeding stats. I am searching the archives, focusing on
the Mother's Survey by Ross Labs. If you can direct me to a place where
I can find the most current raw data on breastfeeding I would appreciate
it.
I have been on lactnet on and off over the years, you guys are a real
shot in the arm, Thanks.
Jennifer Coombs, PA-C(physician assistant, certified)
(I also teach lacation at the University of Utah PA program. The
students listen to a 2 hour lecture- and they complain the are getting
too much on breastfeeding! I also spoke on breastfeeding this year on
the national level, at the annual National meeting of Physician
Assistants.)
