I would like to add here another reference, an Australian book,
'Tongue Tie: From confusion to clarity' by Carmen Fernando, Tandem
Publications, Sydney 1998. This is not about breastfeeding at all,
but focusses on tongue-tie and the importance of early treatment.
There are a number of case studies quoted and I think some seemed to
successfully breastfeed, yet had problems later. I found the book
fascinating while considering how these children may have presented
as breastfeeding babies. It gives a whole new view on the negative
effects of tongue-tie, way beyond breastfeeding ability.
