Hi Everyone,

I have been working with a mom that continues to have milk supply issues.
She has given permission for me to explain her situation in hopes of
getting some ideas.

She delivered at 28 weeks following a severe car accident. She spent
almost a week in ICU and baby was sent to another hospital. She had not
pumped at all until I saw her for the first time 7 days post partum. She
has been pumping every 3 hours since with a Lactina. The baby is now 4
weeks old and is going to breast fairly well, but only 1-2 times a day (Mom
is not able to be here more than this.) Mom is only getting 1/2 ounce total
with each pumping. This amount hasn't increased or decreased over the last
two weeks.

Because she is on so many meds, I suggested she consult with her OB doc
about taking something to increase her supply. He told her to "Just give
it time." She is thinking about using Fenugreek, but isn't sure because of
her other meds. I offered to ask all of my expert friends on Lactnet. Do
any of you have any experience with Moms who were on BP meds or anti-
seizure meds? She is taking Dilantin, Altace, Protonix, Maxzide and
Norvasc.

Thanks so much!
Billie Frye
