<Any other brilliant ideas on what to cover, or how to present it in an
engaging fashion? I have a couple months to prepare (which I'll need,
with
my crazy life!)>

Pull-ease! At least mention the various degrees of tongue tie and the
possible negative effect of tongue tie on nipple integrity, discomfort
and the limitations on tongue physiology that so often reduces efficiency
of milk transfer, and subsequent supply. I hope you also recommend Brian
Palmer's excellent website for fuller information about other effects as
well. Great source for pictures for you. (BTW, I also have some great,
recent pictures if you need some! :-(

Even though the audience may be mainly internists, if even one un-savvy
pediatrician, OB or FP doc is there, educate him/her. There are still too
many who are unaware of what a stumbling block this can be. If they
discover a better way to manage things, by doing NB frenectomy or
referring promptly, you will be doing at least a few moms and babies a
service. Perhaps some of the internists may become a father, uncle or
grandfather to a baby with a tongue-tie! The more physicians who find out
that it is outdated information to ignore tongue-tie, waiting for speech
impediments as an indication for intervention, the sooner that updated
info may spread throughout the medical community.
