Dear Friends:

Historically, tongue tie must have been prevalent enough that midwives kept
a fingernail sharp to treat it at birth.

As for the water being so clear in the wonderful birth picture from the
Norwegian unit, natural birth is surprisingly bloodless....maybe 1/4 cup. It
is a striking difference to the floods of blood at hospital delivery, when
episiotomy or technology changes the hemodynamics of birth.

I love the tender picture of the sweet soft, still wet baby at breast.

warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, BSN, Mother of 2, MS, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI
