Hi,

My children were just watching a show called "Rugrats." It's a cartoon
about everyday life from the viewpoint of several babies. Today's episode
was about one of the babies being "weaned" from the bottle. Aside from the
whole thing talking about bottles like it was the norm, it was interesting
to think of it from a baby's point of view. The baby was a year old and the
doctor had instructed the parents to get rid of the bottle. We saw a
nightmare the baby has with surreal pictures of bottles floating around him
and he couldn't get any. The mother's voice was repeating, "Doctor says
your too big! Doctor says your too big!" It makes me think of how our poor
babies feel when they have been enjoying breastfeeding with it's security
and comfort and then "someone" who knows best decides mom should stop
breastfeeding. <BIG sigh>

Maybe they should make an episode where the baby is breastfed and in the
end, as happened in this episode, the mom decides to follow her own instinct
and give the baby what he needs rather than listening to the doctor.

We have so far to go.....
