Some of you might like to know that my colleague and I have published a new
article on the survival across the centuries of ancient selection criteria
for wet-nurses. Where possible, we have used primary sources and included
references from a wide range of settings. We have also pointed out that,
however rigorous the selection criteria were, it did not mean they were
always followed, especially in times when women willing to work as
wet-nurses were hard to find.
Another article on a related topic, the evolution of milk sharing, appeared
in the same issue.
