Milk thistle (history, evidence about safety and efficacy...) are reviewed
in the article I mentioned, available in full text via the ama's web site:
www.ama-assn.org, then look under journals for the Nov/Dec 1998 edition of
the Archives of Family Medicine (part of that JAMA/Archives special
edition in the fall devoted to alternative and complementary therapies).

Other herbs reviewed in the article include chamomile, echinacea,
feverfew, goldenseal, garlic, ginkgo biloba, ginger, ginseng, st johns
