A question--mom has been exposed all this time and has been breastfeeding
when she and baby are together with no ill effects, right? Also, if her
milk is stored in sealed containers wouldn't it be fine too? My husband
has mentioned several times that some of the claims about mold being a
health hazard have not been found to be provable. He is in the insurance
biz and this is a big issue with insurers who get hit with claims. For the
record, I am asthmatic and react very badly in a moldy, mildewy
environment and therefore we have had many disagreements on the issue of
mold causing health problems. If you think it would be helpful, I can ask
John to pull any relevant studies he has come across discussing health
effects of mold exposure. I can just about guarantee they won't mention
b/f specifically though. However, they may put your mother at ease that
some people do not find this to be as big a health hazard as others. My
vote is that if mom is healthy and baby is healthy b/f is fine. Probably a
good idea not to bring the baby to work though...
