Dear Lactnet Friends:

Today, at the ILCA conference, I met an IBCLC from London who has been
trained to do frenulotomies, anterior and posterior. The clinic where she
works sounds wonderfully thorough: a breastfeeding evaluation before any
procedure, being sure that mothers have at least a minimum milk supply
before the procedure, finger feeding babies that won't go to breast, and
regular follow-up visits. Aftercare consists of 8-10 seconds twice a day of
stretches, starting the day of revision to prevent reattachment. Bodywork
is also encouraged.

They will be publishing in the future. She (Katherine Fisher) said that the
results have been lovely. Sounds to me like a idyllic situation.

Can you imagine US IBCLCs with this ability???

warmly,
