Well stated, bravo! How sad to look at 'things' and products that
are marketed more than relationships.
This morning a mom called with lots of questions about her 3 week
infant. Baby was well over birth wt. I told her that means she is a
roaring success. She said she had nursed her at 6 am and again at 7.30
am but wondered if this was too much. We had developed some rapport so
I said, 'What? that's off the schedule!' We both laughed and she got
the point.
     Relationships above rules.

I am having a hard time understanding the Dr.'s point of view. On the
one
hand, according to many HCP's moms should not be "forced" to breastfeed
if
they don't enjoy it because bottle-feeding is equal anyway. On the
other
hand, don't enjoy it too much or for too long. If it looks like the
mom is
getting any psychological benefit or enjoyment from breastfeeding that
is a
reason to wean as well.

The bottom line appears to be, wean if you don't enjoy breastfeeding
and
wean if you do enjoy it.

Moral of the story is to be completely indifferent to the lovely,
vulnerable
human being learning love at your breast or someone will want you to
stop.

What is this a prison guard job security plan???
