        I agree that some of the lack of maternal feelings in some mothers
initially could be anesthesia related.  My first son was born by C-section
under general anesthetic and when I awoke and they were telling me that I
had a son, I could have cared less.  As a nurse, my experience with post
C-section mums was nearly always very similar.  Is this just because you're
not really awake yet or do the drugs really affect maternal instincts?  Is
it possible that healthy normal women could also have trouble giving up all
the attention they received during pregnancy? It's worth looking at.
