Rose Marie,
I bet you the mom is making some milk especially with the breast changes she
has experienced. She just might not be able to express it. All the moms I
have worked with on induced lactation have made drops of milk by 2 to 3
weeks. It will be hard for her to know how much she is making. One mom I
worked with knew at one point she was making at least 1 ounce per feeding,
because when she would leave baby on occasion with dad, he always had to feed
baby 1 more ounce of ABM with bottle than mom did with tube device at breast.
If mom absolutely has to know I guess you could have her do test weighs
before and after nursings with the really good computerized scales. (We
can't live without these now--they really help us assess when moms and babes
need help) Any increase in weight not accounted for by the ABM the baby
takes would be breastmilk.
