Great post by Christine in response to Jackie's Mom with recurrent mastitis!
If Ok with you Christine, I'd like to compile your ideas and post in our
hospital's outpatient lactation clinic?

Christine DID mention exploring mechanical issues. Along that vein I would
emphasize the potential role of over production. Jackie doesn't detail in this
case, but I sometimes find that these Moms are either chronic overproducers
from the beginning or that they have added overproduction into the mix of
contributing variables since the first bout by focusing on our treatment dictum
of "emptying the affected breast as well as possible". Because they worry
if the breast isn't "drained" at each feed, the accelerated pumping can quickly
turn a good producer into an overproducer.
