<<Has anybody out there heard of a connection between whether or not
a woman was breastfed as a child, and the incidence of developing
breast cancer (with the fact of having been breastfed lowering the
risk?)>>

From The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, Sixth Revised Edition, 1997:

"One significant finding about breast cancer rates was reported in
Epidemiology in 1994. The study shows that women who were breastfed
themselves had significantly less risk of developing breast cancer. Both
premenopausal and postmenopausal breast cancer were decreased by 26-31% in
women who had been breastfed. Interestingly, this study points out that
women who had breastfed were more likely to breastfeed their own children,
but this was not taken into consideration as a factor for the decreased risk
shown in this research."

and the risk of breast cancer. Epidemiology 1994; 5(3):324-31.
