I am a WIC certifier and am posting this for our LC, Mary Ellen Rhoades. By
the way, Dr. Newman, Mary Ellen says she met you at a WIC onference last
fall.
She and another LC have been working with the following client and would
like input from folks on Lactnet.

44 year old first time mother. Took both oral and injectable hormones for
over 18 mos. After a C-sec, mother went home double pumping and finger
feeding. She has *very* large breasts ( bra size 40G), with broad and flat
nipples. Baby will not latch. Mo has been pumping every 2-3 hours for
almost 6 days. The left breast secretes a small amouth of clear amber
shaded fluid. The right side is secreting nothing. She still has extreme
edema from the fluid loading of the C-sec. Her legs and feet are quite
swollen. She noticed breast changes early preg. but they disappeared and
there have been no breast changes postpartum, breasts soft.


Is this an endocrine problem withot resolution? She desperately wants baby
to have breastmilk.
