Karen,
I understand your concern about some of the "cutesy" comments on lactnet and
how they might turn off nonbreastfeeding advocates. However, I really enjoy
most of the "lighter" side of breastfeeding, such as the limericks and the
names for breastfeeding. Most people state the topic in the subject line and
others can scan past that if they wish. Of course, I'll admit, I was the one
who originally asked about the code names, although I asked for people to put
it in a p.s. at the end of their other posts.
When I first started working with bf moms (in the NICU in 1982) I had no
children, no exposure/experience with nursing older babies/toddlers. Some on
lactnet may not either. These little anecdotes are eye openers for some,
food for thought, taste of the reality of nursing life.
Even the wonderful LLL book "Womanly art ...." has alot of personal stories
that serve to illustrate, broaden our perspectives.
Thanks for listening.
