Saw a mom of an eight week old baby today with very strange breast pain symptoms that don't fit the regular candida--any help appreciated! Pain started 2 weeks after birth.
Baby feeds well, good looking latch, no pain on latch on or during feed. Gained 1.130 kilos in 8 weeks.
Five to ten minutes after the feed, a burning, itchy pain starts at the bottom of the breast she fed from, where the breast connects to the chest, and rises up toward but not including the nipple.
Pain can be somewhat relieved by warm or cold compresses. It is worse on right side and at night.
The pain can last from 40 minutes to two hours.
No history of vaginal yeast in mom or diaper rash on baby.
Mom delivered C-sec--persistant OP, and was on antibiotics with bladder problems directly after birth.
She used candida medications on her nipples and baby's mouth for 10 days with no change, and then tried an herbal preparation for three days which she said was excruciatingly painful on her nipples, so she stopped.
Baby sleeps well at night, and the pain is worse when mom's breasts are full.
Mom has undefined rash on left breast, upper quandrant, doesn't look yeasty.
Does this sound like yeast of the ducts?
Can it present without nipples having been sore or cracked?
Thankyou,
