We currently have a La Leche League Leader, who is also a dietician, who volunteers at our hospital breastfeeding support group. She plans to take the IBLCE exam next summer, but would like some additional hands-on experience and has asked to intern with me. We regularly have nurse interns on the unit, but they're affiliated with a school and apparently therefore covered by liability insurance. For those of you who have interned or had interns, what have you done about the liability question? She's not looking for a lot of hours, so I wondered if she would really need to buy liability insurance--would she have any coverage under LLLI or because she's a hospital volunteer? Sorry if this is a really dumb question.
