Hi everyone,
I had a mother birth a very long and stressful labor. She had a premature
rupture, progressed to 5 cm, stopped for 12 hours, went on pit, progressed to
8 cm and then the uterus quit leading to a cesarean. This process took about
36 hours. She was very committed to the natural birth she planned for,
however the birth she had was very similar to her own delivery. She is 32
years old and in very good health. She was able to BF for 6 weeks without
any noteable problems and then milk appeared to be "gone". She described the
baby screaming and obviously unhappy at the breast.
I have thought about growth spurts, but mother said she nursed all the time
for days before giving ABM.
I have thought about the psychological issues and think this may be the
cause.
Baby and mom are both well, and beautifully bonded.
My question is can birth trauma really effect milk suppily? What about 6
weeks postpartum with previous good suppily? She was told this was the cause
from some one at the hospital.
Thank you for your insight.

BF Story:
On PBS there was a nature special my son was watching (he is 4). A momma
bear was called away from her hunt to nurse (or breastfeed?) her cubs. She
sat on the ground bear style with arms and legs out, the cubs came to her and
each latched on to a breast. Then she rolled onto her back with babies on her
breasts. They were flopped on the grass for a quiet nurse time...very cute.
Personal note:
I am glad this mom bear was not trying to get her dinner at McDonalds!
