Esther, I've never heard this before.  In our hospital, infants are given
breast milk or formula.  On occasion, we have a  hypoglycemic baby whose
mother would rather give the baby an IV solution rather than formula.  But I
have never heard of giving a baby an electrolyte solution (unless we are
talking about the intravenous route).  Strange.
