Yes, pau d'arco is fine to use while nursing and is a very effective yeast
treatment. Other herbal remedies that work well are grapefruit seed extract
(as previously mentioned), black walnut (which may negatively affect some
women's milk production), and Oregon grape root (which may positively affect
some women's milk production, so is a good herb to take in tandem with black
walnut).

A good dosage of pau d'arco would be 2-3 ml of alcohol tincture, 3-4 times a
day. Although it's popular to take it in tea form, there's some dispute as
to whether the candida-fighting components of the herb are water soluble, so
for that reason, I'd recommend a tincture. For that matter, with ALL herbal
treatments, tinctures are MUCH BETTER than capsules, which lose their
effectiveness quite quickly.
