I'm not a professional, but my observations of parents and children has lead me to this question:  To what degree is the practice of attachment parenting important to the establishment and continuation of successful breastfeeding?

One of the things I've heard over and over again from mothers who do not practice any form of attachment parenting is:  "He/She just doesn't want to nurse any more."  That leads me to wonder WHY.  Is it because the mother and baby's trust relationship has been damaged by cry-it-out sleep training?  Is it because the house is adult-centered and scheduled rather than child-centered and cue-based?

I just wonder if breastfeeding education and AP education must go hand-in-hand.   LLL seems to think so, as "The Womanly Art" has lots of parenting information in it.

How often do you find yourselves giving out parenting advice along with nursing mechanics advice?

I understand that this might be a controversial topic and I welcome the dialogue.

Jess
