My small statistical sample offers no proof that exzema, cradle cap,
etc. are related to sensitivity to cow's milk, but certainly don't
disprove it.
Forgive me for sharing "old wives' tales" but when I was told about a
study of cow's milk protein being passed through breastmilk in 1983
(thank goodness we had a pediatrician who was following that research,
and asked me to log and document to see if eliminating dairy was
effective) the pediatrician told me she had heard that midwives once
recommended to pregnant women to take no dairy for six weeks before the
birth and six weeks after. I have found that guideline helps. The only
hard part is figuring out when six weeks before starts -- sort of like
"turn on headlights half an hour before dusk" except the newspaper can't
tell you when it is supposed to happen.
Has anyone else found that baby's sensitivities and allergies show up as
skin reactions in infancy, wheezing and red noses in early childhood,
migraines and red eyes in later childhood? This has been the case with a
couple of people I have living in my house right now.
Jo-Anne
