Have tried to find this info on Medline and archives with no success, so if
anyone is aware of where I could find four recent articles on pacifier use
reducing the risk of SIDS, could you please let me know?  I'm trying to
respond to a brief article that appeared ina local baby guide that reported
that Nora Davis, MD, SIDS foundation of Washington clinical advisor, cited
these four studies at the Atlanta conference.  She says in the article that
"In the past, pacifier use has been associated with increase in ear
infections, increased dental malocclusion and shortened duration of
breastfeeding.  In view of the recent findings regarding lowering the risk of
SIDS, it may not be appropriate to routinely discourage the use of pacifiers
in young infants."
I quote directly from this short article.

I forgot to mention that I've emailed Dr. Davis and gone to the SIDS
Foundation site as well with no luck.  My concern is of course the
encouragement of pacifier use and its often negative effect on breastfeeding
and since I'm involved in Media Watch would like to respond to this asap.
Besides aren't they called dummies in England and europe-I think that's quite
appropriate.
