Just thinking (I don't know anything about this type of spore)
I wonder if this is a new pump that she is using or maybe one she has got from a friend, or on craigs-list, or maybe even had it with another baby? Maybe not her cleaning practices but maybe something actually located inside the pump? Maybe her 'cleaning' practices of the pump have been 'too much' and she has frequently got condensation in her tubing which was pulled inside the base of the pump?
