In response to the question on whether the Tanica 815d scale is still made, a Google search quickly brought up the scale that I think you're referencing, albeit Tanita and not Tanica. Years ago - - at least 15 to 17 years ago - - I was advised by my then-supervisor (an IBCLC) that Medela's BabyWeigh scales were purchased from Tanita, then had the Medela logo added, along with a significant mark-up. I was chagrined to hear this, as I had paid $1,000.00 for that latter make/model the previous year (1999). If memory serves, Tanita's price is usually half that. Tanita offers more than one model of professional baby scales, and many other models of professional scales as well. Note that the scales in question do appear to be identical between the two companies. Here is a link to Tanita's page re: this 815u scale (but not the 815d scale): http://www.tanita.com/en/bd-815u/.
