A question comes up from time to time from adoptive moms, regarding donating to milk banks. Now that domperidone and the great new breast pumps make inducing lactation when there is not yet a baby, much more productive, there are some moms who can end up with quite s stash and still no baby to adopt. Usually it's donated through informal milk sharing, sometimes to other adoptive moms who haven't had much time to prepare, or whose response, in ounces, hasn't been nearly as productive. But occasionally there is a question about donating to a bank. One is how long the milk can have been frozen prior to donation. The other is whether milk that is known is be high lipase and turned down by babies it has been tried on, would be accepted.

My other? has nothing to do with adoption. Since, as I understand it, babies with cystic fibrosis have difficulty digesting lipids, is high lipase breast milk beneficial for such babies?
